Can't-Wait Wednesday: The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they're books that have yet to be released. It's based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by the fabulous Jill at Breaking the Spine. If you're continuing with WOW, feel free to link those up as well! Find out more here.

I can't wait for...

Expected release date is September 10, 2019

That's correct. Even though the Hulu series The Handmaid's Tale has shown us what happened to Offred, Margaret Atwood wants to tell us...what happened 15 years later.

Oh, so that's how she gets around the television show. Maybe George R. R. Martin could take a hint and do something similar so his series A Song of Ice and Fire is finally finished? Instead he decided to write prequels...but I digress.

Here is the the description of The Testaments from Goodreads:

The wait is over.

And so I step up, into the darkness within; or else the light.

When the van door slammed on Offred’s future at the end of The Handmaid’s Tale, readers had no way of telling what lay ahead for her – freedom, prison or death.

With The Testaments, the wait is over.

Margaret Atwood’s sequel picks up the story 15 years after Offred stepped into the unknown, with the explosive testaments of three female narrators from Gilead.

‘Dear Readers: Everything you’ve ever asked me about Gilead and its inner workings is the inspiration for this book. Well, almost everything! The other inspiration is the world we’ve been living in.’ - Margaret Atwood
